TWHAC Youth Programs

Horses and children, I often think, have a lot of the
good sense there is in the world.
~Josephine Demott Robinson
TWHAC recognizes that today's youth are the future horse owners, breeders, trainers, and pleasure riders upon whose shoulders will fall the responsibility for continuing to refine and promote the Tennessee Walking Horse. They will carry on the battle to ensure that the practice of torturing horses in order to produce an unnatural and garish stride will end. In this effort, a program to encourage young people to become involved horsemen and women is being developed.

Initiating leadership programs, horsemanship programs, showing and exhibiting clinics are creative and fun ways to involve and encourage our young horse admirers and riders. Additionally, a venue is provided in which those young people who might have no other way to follow their desire to simply be around horses can satisfy their wishes.

The goals of the program are:
--To promote the enjoyment of the Tennessee Walking Horse.
--To develop leadership abilities, build character, and assume citizenship responsibilities
--To learn skills in horsemanship and an understanding of the business of breeding, raising, and training horses.
--To promote greater love for horses and a humane attitude toward them.
--To teach good sportsmanship through a friendly, competitive atmosphere.
--To promote development and expansion of the sound shod Tennessee Walking Horse industry.

Courtney Roberts, TWHAC Queen, Volunteers at NWSS

Courtney Roberts has achieved Level 2 of the Youth Ambassador Program in the Tennessee Walking Horse Breeders and Exhibitors Association.

She was included, with two other Level 2 youths, in "The Voice".

She has been very active in promoting Tennessee Walkers at the National Western Stock Show in January and will again be volunteering at the Rocky Mountain Horse Expo.

All of us can be proud to be represented by this outgoing and personable young woman.

Thanks Courtney...
